_____________
1. Ways to help in the Game
A. Look after yourself. You will be more available to help others if you take care of yourself (both in the game and in real life). Keep enough collections and premium fixers for yourself so you aren't over stretched. As wonderful as it is to help others, doing more than you can manage will eventually take it's toll and it won't be enjoyable any more. Try not to worry about doing the 'right' or 'wrong' thing.
B. Visit your friends and charge/boost Locations, Puzzles or Craft Stations (Charging means clicking on these things on their map). Main Guide: https://seekers-notes.fandom.com/wiki/Visiting_Friends
Further charging/Boosting tips:
Check your friend's game names to see if they want something in particular charged. Eg. PlsCrgPurple would mean 'Please charge Craft stations/Merchants' (which have a purple name plaque)
Check your talent (Click on your avatar in the top right of your game screen, then click on the little badge on the top right corner of your Avatar) Talent explanations here: https://seekers-notes.fandom.com/wiki/Hiring_Friends
Charging Merchants/Craft stations is useful for friends that don't time travel, some time travellers also like these charged. This decreases crafting time no matter what your talent is.
Charging locations is useful for everyone. Preferences for which ones are very different from person to person but ultimately you will be helpful in doing this. Charging outer map locations (higher energy cost, Higher XP and money rewards) is useful if you are a Joker/Strategist, Keeper or accountant. Charging locations with sought after collections eg The Clock Tower, Docks, Old Square, Mine, City Bridge, Farm, etc. is useful if you are a Ranger. Charging premium locations (ones needing access passes to get into) if you are a Joker/strategist, Accountant or Keeper can be useful during the monthly special event. Many players play these locations as the drop rate for the event access passes can be higher.
Charging puzzles is useful if you are a joker/strategist and there is a mini event happening that requires playing Haunted Lights (HL) and/or Treasure box (TB).
Charging puzzles, particularly Ancient Cards if you are a Ranger can be useful for people playing the main quest line as the collection items will drop faster.
Charging the current event location is useful if you are a ranger as the collection items for that quest line will drop faster. Rangers Charging the previous event location is also helpful as the new collections will drop faster.
Charging trophies isn't helpful for most players as it doesn't provide much benefit. Friend charges are valid for 48 hours and multiple charges from seperate friends don't combine. Trophies can only be collected every 12 hrs and some players only play once a day. This means if 8 people charged the 10 trophies, 4 to 6 lots of 10 charges will be wasted. That equates to 40-60 locations that could have had less energy or more XP, Money or Collection rewards. This can irritate some players enough to delete friends.
If you wish to you can also ask forum friends what they prefer charged and Check the lay out of their map to see if there are clues as to what they are currently working on.
C. Send Gifts Main Guide: https://seekers-notes.fandom.com/wiki/Gifting_Friends
Further gifting tips:
Check your friends names before you mass gift. Eg. JezzLocksPls would mean my friend Jezz needs the Lock access passes for the Old Square.
'Favourite' the friends who need specific things puts them to the top of your friends list which can make sending much fast for you. How to favourite can be found here: https://seekers-notes.fandom.com/wiki/Visiting_Friends
Many players, especially those that time travel won't want fixers sent. (Fixers start at Thread and end with Silver Bird) Fixers can be added to/sent from wish lists if people do want them. Sending fixers to time travellers can irritate them enough to delete friends. This is because they receive 1000s of them via the blue thank you boxes. They have just spent a long time sending out extra or personalised gifts and although they aren't looking for gratitude or praise, sending a fluff fixer in return feels like a kick to the shins. It may be worth sending your friend a message using your game name ie 'NoFixersPls' a few times before you delete them.
Sending access passes is useful to everyone as they can't be added to Wish lists. Plus if you ever want to thank a time travelling friend send them an access pass.
If you are a time traveller who can self-restore energy then saving the collections that reward food items and gifting these to those who don't time travel or can't restore their energy will be a big help.
Some find making a list of their friends and writing what each person likes by means of gifts and/or charges.
It's useful to accept gifts one at a time if you want to thank people by name for collection items. Bear in mind occasionally you may have a friend in a hurry or with dexterity/scrolling difficulties that can't extent the same acknowledgement back as they may have to click the accept all and thank button instead.
D. State your needs. We have lots of game friend as well as real life friends and family, even with the best will in the world no one can remember everything and we can't read minds. Ask via your game name or on the forum if you need access passes or food/pass/tool collections. No, we won't think you are being greedy. If we have it spare, it's yours.
When you change items in your wish list it is helpful to play a location or visit friends afterwards. This helps update the Mytona server so your friends can see your changes.
2. Compatibility and deleting friends.... It's not you, it's me!
Sometimes the way you personally play this game will clash with the way another person does. For example person A may be focussed on making their way up the Top 100 chart for collections. They want to send and receive as many fixers and Collection items as possible. Person B wants to turn all their premium rooms red and wants to send and receive as many Access Passes as possible. When these two people become game friends they are filling each others gift boxes with the opposite items and pushing out the ones they need. Inner toddler arrives and deleting justice is swift.
You as a person are not 'wrong' and the way you play isn't 'wrong' either. On this forum person A and B may get on splendiferously, they're just not compatible in the game. It's your game and your boundaries are there for you. It's OK to remove players from your game to protect your game play/achievements.
If you know them well on this forum you may also choose to send them a note before hand explaining what you are trying to achieve and that you would like to add them back once you have achieved this.
3. Ways to help friends on the Forum
A. Register on the forum if you can. This means we know who we're talking to and can contact you via your message wall if we lose all our game friend in a glitch. It means if we aren't sure what your game name request means or if accidently hit accept all or if we want to send you something we can let you know. It also means we can congratulate you in person if we notice you have made a game achievement or send our love and thoughts if you've have said you are struggling with something in real life.
B. 'Bumping' posts you see have no answers in high traffic areas if they start sliding down the chat. This means replying on the post with something like 'I can't answer this but bumping so others see it'
C. If you see a post asking for support that isn't getting answers because it would be better asked on another part of the forum, then you can create a new post on the appropriate forum asking for support and include the link to the persons original post.
Example: https://seekers-notes.fandom.com/wiki/Thread:216839
D. Keep a firm grasp on respect, compassion and patience.
There are many different people using this forum, from different countries, with different native languages and different social customs. It can be even harder as we can't hear tone of voice or face expressions. Things can and will get lost in translation.
There are some with mental, physical and/or social difficulties. Lack of tact or boundaries can be frustrating and it can be helpful to step away from the forum for a bit to save anger and arguments. It's very much OK to ask people to respect your boundaries or to apologise for answering in frustration or anger.
E. For some, it's not just a game and for others it is
Some players here may be housebound, elderly or lying in a hospital bed somewhere in the midst of year long cancer treatment. Some may be living in oppressive relationships. Some are suffering with memory, depression and/or attention span problems that this game improves. Some may have sat with their partner playing the old PC versions of this 15 years ago and after their partner's death this makes them feel connected to them again. Others put a huge amount of time, effort and money into this game.
For what ever reason, to them this isn't just a game it's a lifeline giving focus, therapeutic support, relieving symptoms and distracting from misery.
For others it is just a game. Some may play for 20 minutes a day to while away a few minutes while they're in the bath. Some may play only in winter if the nights are longer or in bad weather. Once a week on a Sunday afternoon or every other day.
Neither of these mindsets are 'wrong' they just reflect our different lifestyles and motivations. It's worth bearing this in mind if you're ever left wondering why someone is getting intensely stressed over something that seems trivial to you or why someone doesn't seem to take the game as seriously as you do. We are all real life humans worthy of respect.
